Vinnies is part of St Vincent de Paul Society, an international lay Catholic organisation that assists those in need. The organisation was established in 1853 in Australia, and it extends support to over 1.8 million Aussies annually.
Vinnies currently operates over 637 op shops across Australia, making it one of the largest second-hand retailers in the country. Donations are accepted in all its stores, and it also manages a network of over 250 donation bins conveniently located near churches, schools, and other community locations. Vinnies charity bins are navy blue and mostly accept only clothing donations.

Vinnies accepts good quality items that are in wearable or working condition. If you would not give the same item to a friend or family member, then it is probably not suitable for donation.
Vinnies usually accepts following items:
• Clothing, shoes and other accessories.
• Toys, books and games
• Bric-a-brac
• Furniture [Select locations only]
• Electrical items [Select locations only]
Clothing donations can be dropped at all their donation bins, while furniture, electrical and fragile items should be donated directly to their op-shops. Please don’t leave donations outside the bins or op shops, as they might be stolen or damaged.
Depending on the location, Vinnies op shop may have different opening hours. Generally, the stores are open from 9 AM – 5 PM Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 3 PM on Saturdays and 9 AM – 4 PM Sundays.

Good quality donated items are sorted and sold in their op shops. Rest donations are either recycled or donated directly to those in need. All the proceeds from the sales are used to fund St Vincent de Paul Society programs and services.
