About Anglicare

Founded in 1870, Anglicare is a Christian non-profit organisation that offers a range of “all-of-life” support services in Australia. Anglicare offers aged care, home care, retirement living, family counselling, and much more. It primarily operates in the Southeastern part of Australia, covering Sydney, Blue Mountains, Illawarra and Southern Highlands, Northern Inland and Norfolk Island.

Anglicare also operates 26 op shops in the region where one can purchase pre-loved and recycled items at affordable prices. Through a network of over 185 clothing collection bins located at parish churches, malls, and parking lot, Anglicare receives generous donations, which are sorted and resold through their op shops. So when you donate to Anglicare, you are actually helping them fund the essential services they provide in the community.

What items does Anglicare accept for donation?

Anglicare accepts old and new items that are in good condition. As a rule of thumb, if you think you would buy the item or can gift it to a friend, then it is suitable to donate.

The items that Anglicare accepts include clothing, shoes, books, toys, jewellery, homeware and accessories. Select stores may also accept white goods, electrical appliances and furniture items. It’s a good idea to call the store in advance to check what items they accept.

Items not accepted for donations:

• Stained, torn, soiled, or broken items.
• Mattresses, bed frames, bases
• Hazardous items like chemicals or gas cylinders
• Baby times like high chairs, cots prams
• Inflatable items
• PCs, printers, toners, ink cartridges
• Dishwasher, dryer.

Make sure to properly check and clean the items before donating. Unsold items cost Anglicare time and financial resources to dispose of.

Anglicare Op Shops & Clothing Bins Opening hours & days:

Anglicare op shops are usually open 9:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday and 10:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturday. However, it’s best to check with your local store for specific opening hours and days, as they may vary.

Clothing bins are usually accessible 24/7, but some locations may restrict the hours at night. It’s best to drop by during daytime hours to avoid disappointment. What happens to your donated items?

Your donated items are sorted and sold through one of the Anglicare op shops or sent to a recycling partner. All the profits generated from the op shop operation are used to fund the various programs and initiatives Anglicare offers in the community. So your donations go a long way in helping people in need and preventing waste.
